Beauty & tradition on unspoiled Greek island of Karpathos ...η ομορφιά της ακριτικής Καρπάθου

Karpathos (Greek: Κάρπαθος) is the second largest of the Greek Dodecanese islands, in the southeastern Aegean Sea.
The island is comprised of the municipality of Karpathos plus the community of Olympos.
Part of Olympos also extends north to the neighboring Saria Island.

Στη Μυθολογία,η Κάρπαθος είναι πατρίδα του τιτάνα Ιαπετού και νήσος της γένησης του Πρωτέα και ανατροφής της Αθηνάς.
Στην Κάρπαθο έζησε ένα μέρος της ζωής του και ο κλέφτης θεός Προμηθέας.Η κατά τον Όμηρο «Κράπαθος» αρχικά αναφέρεται ότι βρισκόταν κάτω από τη Μινωική επιρροή και αργότερα υπήρξε μέλος της Αθηναϊκής συμμαχίας μέχρι το 400 π.Χ. που κατακτήθηκε από τους Ρόδιους.
Κατά την αρχαιότητα υπήρχαν 4 οχύρωμένες πόλεις.
Η Αρκεσία,το Ποσείδιον,η Βρυκούς και η Νίσυρος στη νησίδα Σαρία που παλαιότερα ήταν ενωμένη με την Καρπαθο.
Στον πορθμό πλάτους 100 περίπου μέτρων που χωρίζει σήμερα τα δυο νησιά,από τη μεριά της Καρπάθου,υπάρχουν ερείπια του αρχαίου ναού του Πορθμίου Ποσειδώνα,ενώ ο όρμος του Τριστόμου, ήταν το μεγάλο φυσικό λιμάνι της αρχαίας Βρυκούντος. Μεταγενέστερα πέρασε διαδοχικά στα χέρια των Ρωμαίων και των Βυζαντινών, των Αράβων, των Γενοβέζων (Ανδρέα και Λουδοβίκο Μορέσκο) των Ενετών (οικογένεια Κορνάρο) και των Οθωμανών Τούρκων.
Το Μεσαίωνα το νησί ονομαζόταν ΣΚΑΡΠΑΝΤΟ (SCARPANTO).
Κατά τον Α΄Παγκόσμιο πόλεμο κατακτήθηκε από του Ιταλούς.
Η ελευθερία ήρθε νωρίτερα από τα υπόλοιπα δωδεκάνησα όταν στις 5 Οκτωβρίου 1944 με πρωτοστάτες τους κατοίκους των Μενετών και του Απερίου,ξέκινησε επανάσταση και οι Ιταλοί εκδιώχθηκαν από το νησί.
Στις 11 Οκτωβρίου του ίδιου έτους στο Απέρι υψώθηκε η Ελληνική σημαία και τελέσθηκε πανηγυρική δοξολογία.
Στις 12 Οκτωβρίου μια βάρκα με αποστολή Καρπαθίων,η ΙΜΜΑΚΟΛΑΤΑ,ταξίδεψε μέχρι την Αίγυπτο για να ανακοινώσει το μήνυμα της ΕΛΕΥΘΕΡΗΣ ΚΑΡΠΑΘΟΥ.

Offseason in Corsica ..στην Κορσική, εκτός εποχής.

H Kορσική κατοικήθηκε για πρώτη φορά από τους Ίβηρες και τους Kέλτες ενώ αργότερα έγινε πεδίο συγκρούσεων ανάμεσα σε Eτρούσκους και Kαρχηδόνιους.

Aπομεινάρια της σύγχρονης ιστορίας του νησιού είναι το πατρικό σπίτι και το μνημείο του Nαπολέοντα A΄ Bοναπάρτη στο Aιάκειο και το χωριό Kαργκέζε, όπου υπάρχει ακόμη και σήμερα ελληνική παροικία, με μέλη απογόνους Mανιατών που μετανάστευσαν στο νησί τον 17ο αι.

Ξεχωριστό μνημείο οι "Kαλάνσες", οι γρανιτένιες βουνοκορφές με μορφές που μοιάζουν με μυθικά ζώα.

Corsica, is the fourth largest island in the Mediterranean Sea (after Sicily, Sardinia, and Cyprus). It is located west of Italy, southeast of France, and north of the island of Sardinia.
Corsica is considered one of the 26 régions of France, although strictly speaking Corsica is designated as a "territorial collectivity" (collectivité territoriale) by law. As a territorial collectivity, it enjoys greater powers than other French régions, but for the most part its status is quite similar. Corsica is referred to as a "région" in common speech, and is almost always listed among the other régions of France. Although the island is separated from the continental mainland by the Ligurian Sea and is much closer to the Italian than to the French mainland, politically Corsica is part of Metropolitan France.
Corsica is famed as the birthplace of Napoléon Bonaparte. His ancestral home, Casa Buonaparte, is located there still.

AUTUMN LEAVES ...ΦΘΙΝΟΠΩΡΙΝΑ ΦΥΛΛΑ........

Φθινοπωρινά φύλλα

Γυρεύω τα φθινοπωρινά σου φύλλα,

μαύρα, κίτρινα, σταχτιά,

κρυμμένα σε κάποιο κλειδωμένο σεντούκι,

τυλιγμένα στις τριμμένες φλοκάτες,

απορημένα στον ίσκιο της αναχώρησης.

Τα γυρεύω μέρες τώρα, μα δεν τα βρίσκω,

από σελίδα σε σελίδατα φθινοπωρινά σου φύλλα.

Χρυσό, χαλκό και σύνεση,

νότες που ταιριάζουν στην μπακιρένια όψη σου

αλλά καμώνονται πως δε σε είδαν.

Σε σκεπάζει το δάκρυ του σύννεφου

που ίχνος δεν αφήνει στο χώμα.

Κι όλο γυρεύω με μια χήρα ελπίδα

από πληγή σε πληγή

τα φθινοπωρινά σου φύλλα.
Λίγες σταφίδες θα σε φιλέψω,

από αυτές που μαδάει ο άνεμος,

μαύρες, κίτρινες, σταχτιές.

Κι ίσως έτσι κερδίσω το προνόμιο,

λίγο πριν ξημερώσω στη φτέρνα σου,

να πάψω να γυρεύω

από κλαδί σε κλαδί

τα φθινοπωρινά σου φύλλα.

Και όμως είναι πραγματικότητα!

Ένα ξενοδοχείο αποκλειστικά για γυναίκες πελάτες με μόνο γυναίκες υπαλλήλους.

Το ξενοδοχείο Luthan Hotel & Spa δέχεται μόνο γυναίκες ως πελάτες, ενώ η γενική διευθύντρια του η κα Lorraine Coutinho, δηλώνει ότι το ξενοδοχείο της είναι "ένας μικρός παράδεισος για γυναίκες".

Για ποιες γυναίκες όμως; Για εκείνες που ζουν στο Ριάντ, την πρωτεύουσα της Σαουδικής Αραβίας, όπου οι γυναίκες στους δημόσιους χώρους δεν μπορούν να κυκλοφορήσουν ασυνόδευτες και χωρίς να φορούν τη μπούργκα που καλύπτει ολόκληρο το σώμα.

Με το που μπαίνουν στο ξενοδοχείο οι γυναίκες και ιδίως οι επιχειρηματίες γυναίκες που είναι η πλειοψηφία των φιλοξενουμένων του, μπορούν να απαλλαγούν από το ενοχλητικό μαύρο κάλυμμα τους και να κυκλοφορούν με ό,τι ρούχα θέλουν.

Το γεγονός αυτό είναι μια μεγάλη ανακούφιση, ιδίως το καλοκαίρι, που το μαύρο ρούχο δεν είναι καν υποφερτό κάτω από τον ήλιο και τη ζέστη της Σαουδικής Αραβίας.

Είναι χαρακτηριστικό ότι όλο το προσωπικό του ξενοδοχείου από τη διευθύντρια της μηχανογράφησης μέχρι και την γκρουμ στην ρεσεψιόν είναι γυναίκες.

Το πρωτότυπο αυτό boutique ξενοδοχείο είναι μοναδικό στο είδος του σε όλο τον κόσμο. "Στη Σαουδική Αραβία, άντρες και γυναίκες είναι χωρισμένοι σε όλους σχεδόν τους δημόσιους χώρους.

Βασιστήκαμε σε αυτό το έθιμο και δημιουργήσαμε το ξενοδοχείο αυτό για να εξυπηρετήσουμε τις γυναίκες και ιδίως εκείνες που θέλουν να κάνουν διάφορες επιχειρηματικές συναντήσεις, με άλλες γυναίκες φυσικά", σχολιάζει η κα Coutinho, η οποία προέρχεται από την Ινδία και έχει μεγάλη ξενοδοχειακή εμπειρία.

Το ξενοδοχείο αυτό είναι ιδιοκτησία 20 επιχειρηματιών, γυναικών φυσικά, οι οποίες μετά την μεγάλη επιτυχία τους σκέφτονται να ανοίξουν και άλλα παρόμοια ξενοδοχεία "μόνο για γυναίκες" σε άλλες πόλεις της Σαουδικής Αραβίας.

Το Luthan Hotel & Spa διαθέτει όλες τις ανέσεις spa, γυμναστήριο, πισίνα και 20 ωραία διακοσμημένα δωμάτια.

Είναι χαρακτηριστικό ότι οι γυναίκες στην Σαουδική Αραβία, όταν μπαίνουν σε κάποιο ξενοδοχείο, πρέπει πάντα να συνοδεύονται από κάποιον άνδρα της οικογένειάς τους, και σπάνια έχουν την ευκαιρία να απολαύσουν τους δημόσιους χώρους των ξενοδοχείων, όπως οι πισίνες και τα γυμναστήρια.

Μεγάλος αριθμός των πελατών του ξενοδοχείου Luthan Hotel & Spa είναι νύφες που προετοιμάζονται για το γάμο τους. "Η ελευθερία στις κινήσεις που τους δίνει το ξενοδοχείο μας τις χαροποιεί πολύ", προσθέτει η κα Coutinho.
