Dubai has a rich collection of buildings and structures of various architectural styles. Many modern interpretations of Islamic architecture can be found here, due to a boom in construction and architectural innovation in the Arab World in general, and in Dubai in particular, supported not only by top Arab or international architectural and engineering design firms such as Al Hashemi and Aedas, but also by top firms of New York and Chicago.[96] As a result of this boom, modern Islamic – and world – architecture has literally been taken to new levels in skyscraper building design and technology. Dubai now boasts more completed or topped-out skyscrapers higher than 2/3 km, 1/3 km, or 1/4 km than any other city. A culmination point was reached in 2010 with the completion of the Burj Khalifa (Khalifa Tower), now by far the world's tallest building at 828 m (2,717 ft). The Burj Khalifa's design is derived from the patterning systems embodied in Islamic architecture, with the triple-lobed footprint of the building based on an abstracted version of the desert flower hymenocallis which is native to the Dubai region. The completion of the Khalifa Tower, following the construction boom that began in the 1980s, accelerated in the 1990s, and took on a rapid pace of construction unparalled in modern human history during the decade of the 2000s, leaving Dubai with the world's tallest skyline as of 4 January 2010

The Burj Al Arab (Arabic: برج العرب‎,"Tower of the Arabs", also known as "Arab Sail") is a hotel located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. At 321 m (1,053 ft), it is the third tallest building in the world that is used exclusively as a hotel. The Burj Al Arab stands on an artificial island 280 m (920 ft) out from Jumeirah beach, and is connected to the mainland by a private curving bridge. It is an iconic structure to mimic the sail of a ship.
Several features of the hotel required complex engineering feats to achieve. The hotel rests on an artificial island constructed 280 m (920 ft) offshore. To secure a foundation, the builders drove 230 forty-metre (130 ft) long concrete piles into the sand.
Engineers created a surface layer of large rocks, which is circled with a concrete honeycomb pattern, which serves to protect the foundation from erosion. It took three years to reclaim the land from the sea, but less than three years to construct the building itself. The building contains over 70,000 m3 (92,000 cu yd) of concrete and 9,000 tonnes of steel.
Inside the building, the atrium is 180 m (590 ft) tall.
Burj Al Arab is the world's second tallest hotel (not including buildings with mixed use). The structure of the Ryugyong Hotel in Pyongyang North Korea, is 9 m (30 ft) taller than the Burj Al Arab, and the Rose Tower, also in Dubai, topped Burj Al Arab's height at 333 m (1,093 ft), becoming the world's tallest hotel.

Man-made archipelagos near Dubai, United Arab Emirates are featured in this image photographed by an Expedition 22 crew member on the International Space Station. The municipality of Dubai is the largest city of the Persian Gulf emirate of the same name, and has built a global reputation for large-scale developments and architectural works. Among the most visible of these developments -- particularly from the perspective of astronauts onboard the ISS -- are three man-made archipelagos. The two Palm Islands (Palm Jumeirah and Palm Jebel Ali) appear as stylized palm trees when viewed from above. The World Islands evoke a rough map of the world from an air- or space-borne perspective. Palm Jumeirah and the World Islands are highlighted in this view. Palm Jumeirah (lower left) was begun in 2001 and required more than 50 million cubic meters of dredged sand to raise the islands above the Persian Gulf sea level. Construction of the Palm Jumeirah islands was completed in 2006; they are now being developed for residential and commercial housing and infrastructure. Creation of the 300 World Islands (upper right) was begun in 2003 and completed in 2008, using 320 million cubic meters of sand and 37 million tons of rock for the surrounding 27 kilometer-long protective breakwater. Also visible at the lower edge of the image is another notable built structure -- the Burj Tower (white rectangle at lower right and inset image). The Burj Tower -- or Burj Khalifa -- stands 800 meters high, and is currently the world's tallest structure. The photograph captures enough detail to make out the tapering outline of the building as well as its dark needle-like shadow pointing towards the northeast.

DUBAI η μητρόπολη της Αραβίας, πλούτος & χλιδή!

Τζαμιά απαράμιλλης αρχιτεκτονικής αισθητικής, παλάτια που αναδύουν το μυστήριο της Ανατολής, συναρπαστικά τοπία, δροσερές οάσεις και σιωπηλές έρημοι που σας ταξιδεύουν στους δρόμους των καραβανιών. • Bastakiya District. Το τελευταίο κομμάτι της παλιάς πόλης. Πλήρως ανακαινισμένο αλλά στο παλιό στυλ.


• Burj al-Arab hotel. Φορέστε κάτι όμορφο και απολαύστε το τσάι σας η ένα δροσερό γλύκισμα στα καφέ του ξενοδοχείου, που είναι το μοναδικό στο κόσμο 7*. Εάν το ξενοδοχείο δεν είναι πλήρες, μπορείτε να ακλουθήσατε έναν από τους «γύρους» που οργανώνει το ξενοδοχείο. Αν πάλι το βαστά η τσέπη σας δοκιμάστε την καταπληκτική κουζίνα στο υπόγειο του ξενοδοχείου με θεά το φυσικό ενυδρείο, (θα χρειαστεί να κάνετε κράτηση εκ των προτέρων).


• Burj Dubai. Ο ψηλότερος ουρανοξύστης στον κόσμο θα ανοίξει τις πόρτες του κάποια στιγμή στα τέλη του 2009. Θα έχει ύψος 810μ και θα είναι το σήμα κατατεθέν της πόλης. Σήμερα έχει ξεπεράσει κατά 100 περίπου μέτρα τον πύργο 101 στην Σαγκάη, δηλαδή είναι κτισμένα τα 600 και κάτι μέτρα.

• Dubai Museum. Στην λεωφόρο Al Ibn Abi Talib, για όσους ενδιαφέρονται να γνωρίσουν την μετεξέλιξη ενός μικρού ψαράδικου χωριού σε μια από τις πλέον σύγχρονες μητροπόλεις. Γενική είσοδος 3AED.


• Dubai Zoo. Ένας ανοιχτός ζωολογικός κήπος κοντά στην θάλασσα. Γενική είσοδος 3AED.


• Gold Souq. Το παζάρι, η αγορά αν θέλετε του χρυσού και των κοσμημάτων. Εδώ ο χρυσός πουλιέται με το κιλό και οι δεξιοτέχνες κατασκευαστές κοσμημάτων σας χρεώνουν για την περίτεχνη δουλεία τους επιπλέον. Μην πάτε να ψωνίσετε αν δεν ξέρετε την τρέχουσα τιμή του χρυσού και να δεν ξέρετε να κάνετε σκληρό παζάρι.


• Ibn Battuta Mall. Ένα εμπορικό κέντρο, που πρέπει να επισκεφτείτε όχι τόσο για αγορές αλλά για να θαυμάσετε, την περίφημη αρχιτεκτονική του. Έχει έξι αίθουσες και η κάθε μια είναι κτισμένη και διακοσμημένη υπέροχα με διαφορετικό αρχιτεκτονικό ρυθμό. Κινεζικό, Ινδικό, Περσικό, Αιγυπτιακό, Τυνήσιο και Ανδαλουσιανό.


• Jumeirah Mosque. Το πιο όμορφο και το πιο μοντέρνο τζαμί στην πόλη. Αν το επισκεφτείτε Πέμπτη τότε θα έχετε την ευκαιρία να μάθετε για τον Ισλαμισμό μέσα από ερωταπαντήσεις!!


• Mall of the Emirates. Μην το επισκεφτείτε χωρίς χοντρά ρούχα! Ναι αυτό το εμπορικό κέντρο έχει την μεγαλύτερη εσωτερική πλάγια για σκι στον κόσμο. Πολλά ξενοδοχεία δίνουν εισιτήρια δωρεάν, μπορείτε να βρείτε και να νοικιάσετε εξοπλισμό, αν είστε λάτρεις του σπορ. Μια μοναδική εμπειρία που δεν πρέπει να χάσετε.


• Shindagha District περιοχή με ανοιχτό μουσεία, και με το παλάτι του πρώην Σεΐχη Rashid Al-Mactoum.


• Palm Islands. Το μεγαλύτερο τεχνητό νησί στον κόσμο, σε σχήμα φοινικιάς. Ένα από τα χαρακτηριστικά της πόλης του DUBAI
